CULTURAL FEST 2024
Several important festivals and events were organized by students during the student week 2024. Danish Society of Library Information Services, organized a grand event entitled “Cultural Fest 2024 on October 09, 2024. The main objective of this event was to give awareness about different cultures of Pakistan. A huge number of audiences (Students and families) attended the event and it wouldn’t be wrong if we say it was one of the most successful events of the ongoing student week.
The event includes:
• Cultural Dress Walk
Students of COMSATS Lahore campus were outfitted in fantastic folk local dresses of different regions of Pakistan, i.e. Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pakhtun ,Saraiki and Gilgat Biltastan. This walk was much appreciated by the audience.
• Cultural / Folk Dances
The students of COMSATS from different departments presented beautiful cultural dance performances. A hard work was done to prepare these mesmerizing performances. High quality of perfection and synchronization was observed during the performances.
• Cultural Songs
Many cultural songs were sung by the local students and the other singer who were specially invited to the event from different areas of the country.
• Musical Performances
Different musical bands were invited to show their remarkable performances, the audience was so mesmerized to hear them and most of them found asking for “once more”, “once more” and insisted to invite them again in the next coming events.
Overall, it was a big success in the account of library and Danish society of COMSATS Lahore. A Collaboration between library and society was good. If we promote such peaceful events, our country can leave extremism and terrorism far behind us.
Prof Dr. Srafraz Ahmad was the chief guest of the cultural night. He appreciated the efforts of Danish society and congratulate the library staff on a successful event of student week..

Sports Week @ CUI Lahore Library
Library Information Services CUI-Lahore organized in-house games/ activities during the student week 2024. The Library organized different events including Cricket Match, Musical Chair, Bottle Flip, Target Point & Ludo competition. All library staff actively participated and tried to grab the higher position. After an interesting competition, the name of the position holders are as under. For the cricket match, there were two teams, leading by Dr. Muhammad Tariq and the other was Dr. Muhammad Ishtaiq sb. All library staff including female staff played the match. The team of Muhammad Ishtiaq sb have won the match.

2. Musical Chair Competition
• 1st Position (Female) M.. Raiqa Pervaiz (Assistant)

• Ist Position Ms. Shazia Bait (Assistant)
• 2nd Position Mr. Muhammad Tariq (Naib Qasid)
At the end, the prize distribution was held and the prize were given to all winners.

Talk on "Academic integrity, academic dishonesty, and use of Turnitin"
Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Library Incharge, Comsats University, Delivered a talk on "Academic integrity, academic dishonesty, and use of Turnitin" at NCRD Islamabad on September 13, 2024. The participants from across Pakistan attended the session. Thanks to Ms. Kiran Butt and NCRD for the invitation and the hospitality.

Library Orientation for Fall24 Students
The newly enrolled students at CUI Lahore campus are warmly welcomed by the Library Information Services CUI Lahore. In this regard, the library conducted orientation sessions for its newly inducted students on the Orientation Day, held on September 02, 2024. The purpose of these sessions was to educate the students about the library's resources, services, and facilities, along with the rules and regulations. A large number of students enthusiastically attended these library orientation sessions.
The main library staff includes Mr. Muhammad Ishtiaq, Mr. Asim Mushtaq, and Mr. Attiq ur Rehman. They briefed the new library users about library rules, membership, resources, and services. At Architecture Library, Ms. Nasira Muneer, At Pharmacy Ms. Raiqa Pervaiz and At Management Science Library, Mr. Naveed Siddique conducted orientation sessions for their respective students.

Closing Ceremony of Calligraphy Painting Short Course
In a bid to promote and celebrate the artistic heritage of calligraphy, Assistant Librarian Naveed Siddique organized a one-month short course with the approval of professional development program committee at COMSATS University Lahore campus through the platform of Library Information Services. This course was designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of calligraphy painting, culminating in a final display to showcase the students' work.
The closing ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, setting a reflective tone for the event. Following this, Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Head of Library Information Services, offered insightful reflections on the significance of calligraphy art. He praised the organizers and participants for their dedication and creativity. Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq then spoke about calligraphy’s role in fostering personal expression and artistic discipline, emphasizing its power to convey profound messages through elegant script. Their speeches enriched the event by highlighting calligraphy’s enduring relevance and its impact on cultural identity.
At the end, Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq and Dr. Muhammad Tariq distributed the certificate among participants and the shield were also presented to Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq, Dr. Muhammad Tariq and Naveed Siddique, finally the guests and all the library staff toured the display by the student. Participants took the opportunity to elaborate on their works and the techniques they employed. The program concluded with a delightful tea.
